Windows 7 network access but no internet

See what happens, what messages you get. To update the device driver software, simply go to Device Manager , right-click on the LAN adapter you are using under Network adapters , click on Update Driver Software , and then follow the instructions. If that doesn't work, a simple test would be to shutdown the system, physically disconnect your LAN network adapter, and then boot the system up again.

Once completely booted up, shutdown the system again, physically re-install the LAN adapter back on, and then boot up the system, it should detect it automatically and install the driver software it can find for it, see what messages you get. At any rate, if you don't have a working driver software for your device, you will need to download it from your vendor through a machine with a working Internet connection and then install it on your system of concern.

I'm having this issus with my network. When I move a PC on my network they get disconnected from internet but not the local network. I don't see my Firewall Watchguard blocking anything Yes, shunning is what our Cisco firewall was doing. That's why I could ping internal servers but no internet sites. I had a similar issue. Do you have any web filters that look at AD before allowing you to view the internet? I am not connected wirelessly at work or at home. It's not a driver problem since I can usually connect and just stops working occasionally.

Restarting my computer and the router does work, but I shouldn't have to just because this one stupid Windows 7 computer has problems. It's a corporate computer - we do not install anything without our IT team testing and deploying it.

None of the other users are having this issue. Our IT guy has given up trying to figure out what the problem is - he says everything is working correctly and yet I've tried using the Network Troubleshooter, but like most troubleshooters.

I think it usually ends up on a generic Help page that says to restart everything computer, router, the internet Unfortunately, Windows and Office Help isn't as helpful as it was 10 years ago you'd think it would be better not worse.

I WONDER IF many of the above proposals as solutions have worked simply because the action taken has disabled and then re-enabled the network adapter without this being apparent. I have an intermittent but annoying problem of lack of internet connection despite good LAN connection on startup of Win 7 across several different computers all Dell, some desktop, some laptop and versions of Win 7 and, in fact, using two different LANs on two different ISPs on opposite sides of the world.

It even happens that one computer will have the problem and another not on the same LAN. Equivalent situation never occurs on a machine running XP. A USB wireless adapter has been installed along with its driver. With the wired one disconnected, attempts to connect the wireless adapter have resulted in it being "connected" but without internet access.

Both gave the same results. It also was not getting a DNS server address, so I set that up for 8. For some reason, I decided to reconnect the wired connection. This came online and was "connected" and had internet access. Here is the really strange thing: once the wireless connection showed it had internet access, I unplugged the wired connection again and the wireless STAYED intact, continuing to have internet access.

I could confirm that the connection was through the wireless connection by doing a speed test. The modem that the wired connection was using was a substantially slower service less than 5 mpbs compared to nearly 30 mbps. I spent the last two days fighting this on a users computer and even went as far as wiping the machine back to factory. I finally realized that no matter what I was always getting the same IP address. I had to hunt for it on one of our many DHCP servers but once I found the record I deleted it and now my problem is solved.

Install Drivers in emulation mode : If you are installing Windows 7 on a slightly old computer, then the problem may be due to incompatible drivers. So you can try to update the drivers with latest ones for your network card. Try to install the latest drivers and see if it works. If it still does not work, then you have to install the drivers in compatible mode.

This can be done by right-clicking on the executable file, choosing properties, clicking on the compatibility tab and checking the box which says 'Run this program in compatibility mode and then choose the OS.
